Over sold, but under used!!

Recently, using technology is very common phenomenon in education field, and there are various manuals for using equipment for teachers. Compared with 10 years ago, we can easily find many devices for teaching and learning assistance in the classroom such as computers, over head projectors, and Docucam. However, is technology effective or helpful for teachers and students?

I have reviewed an article about teachers’ and students’ perception towards using technology. In the article inquired why technology is “oversold but underused.” The author concluded that students had positive perception towards using technology and technology itself, otherwise, teachers had very skeptical and negative beliefs about the technology. They mentioned about their fear and distrust. Many of them have been using technology only when necessary. Some of teachers who were interviewed by author were afraid of being replaced by computers or other technology. Teachers tend to perceive that technology in classroom is difficult to use. Limited resources can be inferred by another reason of the phenomena, “oversold but underused.”

I think that we need a role of change agents in our system because of this gap. Students thought that the technology provides useful benefit of learning or preparing their future. As change agents, we can help student and teachers at the same time. In this reason, change agents should be a change maker in classroom.
